About Dr. Kristen Porter

Boston’s Special Events Production Company…since 1998!

Dr. Kristen Porter founded Kristen Porter Presents Dyke Night® Productions in 1998 with a mission to “partner entertainment with philanthropy.” During this time, Kristen Porter Presents Dyke Night® has grown to become the largest and longest-lasting event production company targeting the women’s community in Boston’s history. Money raised through  events is donated to grassroots efforts and nonprofits, with a priority towards small organizations that lack paid development staff.  Her mission is to build and support community artistically, socially, and philanthropically.

Her philanthropic mission is rooted in her dedication to service. She devoted 20 years to Boston’s nonprofit community, which included 16 years as Clinical and Executive Director of a nonprofit integrative medicine health center open to all and providing free care to those with HIV. As a result of her advocacy on behalf of Bostonian’s with HIV/AIDS, Mayor Menino proclaimed October 21, 2009 “Kristen Porter Day” in the City of Boston. She is also “wicked proud” to have been voted by the community as the Boston Pride’s 2017 Grand Marshal.

Dr. Porter is a gerontologist specializing in resilience among transgender aging populations and long term HIV survivors. Her publications can be found in numerous peer-reviewed gerontology journals including The Journal of Gerontology and The Gerontologist.  Since 1994, she has been a death midwife and integrative medicine consultant and acupuncture practitioner whose work is recognized nationally and internationally. As a social entrepreneur she has founded several companies in various fields with community-spirited missions and is a dedicated mentor. She is also a Justice of the Peace having the honor of officiating many couples who met at her events over the decades.

Dr. Porter is the founder and creative visionary of Kristen Porter Presents Dyke Night® but she is not on staff; she donates her time and expertise as the top event promoter in this arena in Boston. In 2009, she assembled a solid strategic team to oversee the philanthropic work of Dyke Night® and our community service programs like our 100% volunteer (Lindsey, Bren, Doris) produced The List: Boston’s Queer Agenda to continue her vision to support our community artistically, socially and philanthropically.   Kristen Porter Presents operations are managed by Perri,  Social Media by Brianna, and entertainment by Maryalice.
